Sapparo Ichiban

Here is a quick and easy recipe that many people are already using. I used to live in Hawaii and over there the cost of living is really high and a lot of the folks eat spam . So being that the island is a melting pot for many different peoples, many being Asian, you find ramen noodles a favorite meal.
You can go to almost every other block and find trucks that will serve up some of the most tasty ramen noodle combination dishes you ever wanted to wolf down. Many, have miso, any vegetables you can think up, gyoza’s, and eggs, not to mention all of the combinations of sesame seed oil and soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoi-sen sauce, and the list goes on .
You are only limited by what you want to put into this mix by your own creativity.

One of the verisions that I am used to having is pretty simple and takes less than 10 minutes to make.

What you’ll need:

1. 2 packages of Sapparo Ichiban oriental ramen noodles.

2. 2 stalks of green onions

3. A small piece of Ginger Root

4. sesame oil

5. soy sauce

6. 2 eggs

7. cabbage is optional

8. 3 or 4 gyozas. ( found in inexpensive packages at the oriental grocery store, best kept delicious survival food secret-cheap)

How you make it…

Rule #1 never follow the directions on the package in regards to how much water to add. You will add a little less water as directions call for as you want the flavor to follow through and not be too watered down.

In using a small pot add about an inch and 3/4 of water. Than you will add a few shakes of Sesame Oil and Soy Sauce to the water and put this on to boil.
Next, you want to cut up your onions, and slice up the ginger root and cabbage , and place into the boiling water as well.
The nice thing about the gyoza is that you can add them frozen into the water and by the time the mix is ready the gyoza will be done. So add the gyoza to the mix at this time.

By this time the water is boiling and add the flavor packet into the mix, and also take the ramen noodles and break it into 4 piceces while still in the package and toss this in as well. Cover with your lid, and let it simmer on low-med heat till the noodles are soft.
I like to add a couple of eggs to the mix and let them boil till you have a poached egg in there. If you like to have your egg a little harder than leave it in a little longer.
Don’t be afraid of using your creativity, have fun with the mix and see what other ways to make this delicious and quick taste temptation. Bon appitite !
